Spotlight on: GORGOTHA

A monstrous medusa deity who reigns over a vast, sprawling underworld network of chambers, deep beneath the earth. She is a goddess of fertility and death, and her blood gives spawn to her followers: medusae, drow, scorpions, spiders, snakes and other denizens of the dark underworld, elements of the soil and of the earth, which is made fertile by the death and decay of flesh.

An aspect of GORGOTHA might be encountered in the largest of damp, underground caves, as a monstrously huge serpeant body, ending in the nude torso of a simultaneously beautiful and hideous woman, with four arms and, of course, her medusae-like head, full of gigantic snakes.

GORGOTHA's own eyes do not have the power to petrify creatures, as they were plucked out many eons ago by the same ancient deity who enslaved her beneath the earth, but her medusae minions still retain this power.

It is said that should GORGOTHA be slain, all of her minions will become petrified statues, all at once, and become one with the earth from which they came. However, it is also said, if an eye of GORGOTHA is returned to her, she will find her way to the surface and begin her reign of terror against the overworld. Whe
n this occurs, she will require an undead army who are not affected by her medusae Dutchesses and will serve to enslave all the creatures of light. These are her orders to Uberroth: to help assemble the armies of the dead and aid GORGOTHA in her search to regain her sight, so she can see her way to the surface again!

Living creatures who aid Uberroth, and thus GORGOTHA, in their goals will be rewarded greatly: they will be destroyed first when GORGOTHA comes.

SERVE ME.

Regrettably, Gorgotha's lone worshiper felt that this life was not the best place to "serve her" and lost his life in a noble battle against some hill giants. Gorgotha is looking for a new recruit.
